Cosmic Strings and Structure Formation

چکیده

We discuss structure formation in cosmic string theories. Emphasis is laid on the properties of the peculiar velocity field, non–gaussian features and clusters of galaxies. It is found that the predicted peculiar velocity field is quiet (v < 150 km/s for L > 30h Mpc) for models with (Ω0h ≤ 0.2) which is in disagreement with the results from POTENT at large scales (> 30h Mpc), consistent, however, with the analysis of the peculiar velocity field of spiral galaxies by Giovannelli et al. [16]. Using the Press–Schechter formalism we calculate the abundances of X–ray clusters. It is found that in CDM models a mass fluctuation σ8 = 0.6...0.7 is needed with Ω0h = 0.1...0.2 in order to explain the current data.

Cosmic Walls and Filaments Formation in Modied Chaplygin Gas Cosmology

We want to study the perturbation growth of an initial seed of an ellipsoidal shape in Top-Hat collapse model of the structure formation in the Modied Chaplygin gas cosmology. Considering reasonable values of the constants and the parameters of the model under study, we can show that a very small deviation from spherical symmetry (ellipsoidal geometry) in the initial seed leads to a nal highly ...

Constraints on cosmic strings due to black holes formed from collapsed cosmic string loops.

The cosmological features of primordial black holes formed from collapsed cosmic string loops are studied. Observational restrictions on a population of primordial black holes are used to restrict f , the fraction of cosmic string loops which collapse to form black holes, and µ, the cosmic string mass-per-unit-length. Using a realistic model of cosmic strings, we find the strongest restriction ...

Formation of Wakes by Chiral Conducting Cosmic Strings

Topological defects are predicted in many gauge models as solitonic solutions resulting from spontaneous breaking of gauge or global symmetries. Among all these solutions, cosmic strings, and in particular those with conducting properties, have a number of cosmological applications.1 The possible scenarios for structure formation by cosmic strings depend very much in the detail of the model. On...

Evolution of a Network of Cosmic String Loops

We discuss and summarise the predictions of a model [1] for the nonequilibrium evolution of a network of cosmic strings initially containing only loops and no infinite strings. The results are of interest given recent work highlighting the problems with structure formation from the standard cosmic string scenario [2, 3].

Wormholes and Cosmic Strings

A gravitational scenario is proposed where the euclidean action is invariant under the isotropic and homogeneous version of the euclidean U(1) group of local transformations of the scale factor and scalar matter field, interpreting the trace of the second fundamental form as the gauge field. The model allows spontaneous breakdown of some involved symmetries, including possibly diffeomorphism in...

Supersymmetric Cosmic Strings

We study the formation of cosmic strings in the context of spontaneous symmetry breaking of gauge symmetry groups. We discuss the conditions for formation and stability of defects in nonsupersymmetric theories and also F-strings in the supersymmetry context. Finally, we discuss how cosmological observations can constrain supersymmetric grand unified theories.
